On December 5, 2016, the 7th Session of China-Hungary Science and Technology Coopration Committee was held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. The meeting was jointly chaired by Yin Hejun, the Chinese Chairman of the Committee and Vice-Minister for Science and Technology, and József Pálinkás, the Hungarian Chairman of the Committee and President of National Research, Development and Innovation Office.
At the meeting, the Chinese side briefed the Hungarian side on the latest progress in science and technology innovation and information on the deepening of science and technology program management reforms, promotion of in-depth combination of science and technology with the economy and implementation of international cooperation in science and technology in China, with a special introduction to the successful convening of the First China-Central and Eastern European Countries Conference on Innovation Cooperation and the G20 Science, Technology and Innovation Ministers Meeting. The Hungarian side briefed the Chinese side on Hungary’s research management system, science and technology innovation policy, current status of R&D, innovation index rankings, future fields for priority development and development goals. The Hungarian side also introduced to the Chinese side its international cooperation in science and technology, especially Hungary’s participation in the European Union’s Horizon 2020 and large-scale research infrastructure construction.
Thanks to in-depth exchanges, the two sides agreed that they should fully leverage the China-Hungary Intergovernmental Committee on Science & Technology Cooperation and the China-Central and Eastern European Countries cooperation platform, take the opportunity of the “Belt & Road” Initiative, strengthen strategic dialogues and top-level design for science and technology cooperation between the two countries, explore the way of regular committee meetings & workshops, incorporate other science and technology-related government departments, research institutions, universities and local science and technology management departments in both countries into the China-Hungary Intergovernmental Committee on Science & Technology Cooperation mechanism. The two sides also agreed to expand people-to-people exchanges in the science and technology field, deepen bilateral cooperation in science and technology R&D, build joint research centers and joint laboratories in physics, medicine and other fields of common interest, and establish platforms for bilateral science and technology cooperation.
After the meeting, the two sides signed the Protocol of the 7th Session of China-Hungary Science and Technology Coopration Committee.
