Dr. Wan Gang, Minister of Science and Technology of China met with the U.S. delegation led by Max Baucus, U.S. Ambassador to China.
Minister Wan Gang reviewed the fruitful achievements China and the United States have achieved in S&T cooperation such as clean energy, environment, healthcare, agriculture, basic research, and people-to-people exchanges,etc. and spoke highly of the progress the two countries have made in bilateral cooperation in science, technology and innovation. At the guests’ request, Minister Wan Gang introduced China’s reform on R&D project management. He hoped that in the next stage the two sides could continue to consolidate existing cooperation, focus on key areas, expand fields of cooperation and contribute to the progress of science and technology as well as to the well-being of the peoples of both countries.
Ambassador Baucus extended appreciation for the information. He noted that U.S.-China relations are very important, and bilateral cooperation in science, technology and innovation is of profound significance. The Ambassador said that the U.S. side is willing to work with the Chinese side to cope with global challenges and push forward scientific and technological cooperation in fields of common interest to the benefit of the peoples.
