On January 17, 2017, the 3rd China-Thailand Joint Committee Meeting was held in Qingdao, China. Vice-Minister Yin Hejun of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and Permanent Secretary Soranit Siltharm of the Thai Ministry of Science and Technology respectively headed a delegation to the meeting and signed the minutes on behalf of their respective ministries.
At the meeting, the Joint Committee heard the cooperation progress reports by 5 joint working groups and discussed and finalized the work plans for 2017. On this basis, all joint working groups submitted to the Joint Committee their work reports, which were included into the minutes of the meeting after deliberations by the chairmen of both sides.
In recent years China and Thailand have continuously pushed forward key science and technology cooperation projects, actively held people-to-people exchanges in science and technology and fully tapped into the potential bilateral cooperation. China and Thailand have accomplished rich achievements in their science and technology cooperation and established efficient and sound mechanisms, which have played an important model and guiding role for strengthening the science and technology relations between China and other ASEAN countries. Further expanding bilateral cooperation in science and technology innovation is of great significance to promoting social and economic development and livelihood improvement in both countries, as well as to consolidating friendly relations between China and Thailand.
