Wan Gang, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Minister of Science and Technology headed a CPPCC delegation to visit Vietnam and held a working meeting with Chu Ngoc Anh, Minister of Science and Technology of Vietnam.
Minister Chu Ngoc Anh extended a warm welcome to Minister Wan for his visit to the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology. He reviewed the progress of bilateral cooperation in science and technology after the two countries signed the China-Vietnam Agreement on Science and Technology Cooperation in December 1992 and briefed Minister Wan on the current status of science and technology development in Vietnam. Minister Wan introduced the latest developments and achievements of science and technology in China.
The two sides held in-depth discussions on further pushing forward bilateral cooperation in science and technology, implementing the 2017 Joint Research Program, promoting technology transfers, building joint laboratories in key fields, supporting mutual visits and exchanges between Chinese and Vietnamese young scientists, including sponsoring outstanding young Vietnamese scientists to go and work in China. The two ministers also hoped to strengthen cooperation and exchanges between China and Vietnam under the APEC’s Policy Partnership on Science, Technology and Innovation (PPSTI).
Up to date, China and Vietnam has held 9 meetings of the Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation and implemented 140 short-term and 49 long-term collaboration projects. The 9th Meeting of the China-Vietnam Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation deliberated on and identified new priority fields for cooperation and jointly funded projects.
