Minister Wan Gang met with Israel’s new ambassador to China Zvi Heifetz on March 1, 2017. The two exchanged views on how to deepen and expand cooperation in science, technology and innovation (STI) and reached agreement on furthering bilateral cooperation.
Minister Wan spoke highly of the bilateral STI cooperation and briefly reviewed the progress made by the China-Israel Joint Committee on Innovation Cooperation (JCIC). He said 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of the forging of diplomatic relations between China and Israel and the final year of the three-year action plan on innovative cooperation. MOST is ready to maintain close dialogues with Israeli authorities, promote practical STI cooperation between the two sides and make due contributions to advance bilateral ties.
Mr. Zvi Heifetz hailed the remarks made by Mr. Wan and the fruitful results produced by the bilateral STI cooperation in recent years. He said Israelis cherish the friendship with the Chinese people and their government would like to strengthen exchange and cooperation with China and cement bilateral relationship.
Ye Dongbai, Director-General of International Cooperation, was present at the meeting.
