Minister Wan Gang met in Beijing with a visiting delegation led by Miguel Arias Cañete, European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy on March 30th, 2017. The two sides held in-depth discussions on the 8th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM8) and the 2nd Mission Innovation Ministerial (MI-2) to be held in Beijing on June 6 to 8; and the China-EU cooperation on clean energy and climate change.

The EU fully supports China’s efforts to host the meetings and is willing to work closely with China as it will host CEM9 and MI-3 next year.

The two sides agreed that China and the EU are highly complementary to each other in science, technology and innovation related to clean energy. Both sides look forward to jointly promoting China-EU cooperation in clean energy R&D and innovation, to cope with global climate change and enrich the China-EU Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
