Huang Wei, Vice Minister of Science and Technology met with Chen Liming, Chairman of IBM Greater China and an IBM delegation on May 11th, 2017. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on IBM’s cooperation with China, the trend of IT development and other issues of shared interest.
Huang pointed out that openness and cooperation are vitally important for science, technology and innovation. His Ministry supports enterprises, universities and research institutes of China and the U.S. to conduct joint research, exchanges and cooperation. He welcomed IBM’s commitment to further growing its business in China, contributing to China’s IT development, and promoting the shift of growth model through science, technology and innovation.
Chen Liming provided an overview of IBM Greater China as well as its development strategy and cooperation, including the current status and application of cognitive computing and artificial intelligence. He expressed IBM’s readiness to further enhance cooperation with Chinese companies to jointly promote technological innovation.
Also present at the meeting were Zhang Weixing, Deputy Director General of the Department of Resource Allocation and Management; Guo Zhiwei, DDG of the Department of Basic Research; Yang Xianwu, DDG of the Department of High-tech Development and Industrialization, and Cai Jianing, DDG of the Department of International Cooperation.
