On June 6, 2017 Minister Wan Gang met in Beijing with a visiting delegation led by Mr. Jerry Brown, Governor of the U.S. State of California. The two sides exchanged views on clean energy cooperation and other issues of common interest. They also signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Research, Innovation and Investment to Advance Cooperation on Low-carbon Development and Clean Energy Resources between the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of California of the United States of America, and built the China-California Clean Technology Partnership. Minister Wan and Mr. Brown signed the MOU on behalf of the Chinese and the Californian side respectively.
Minister Wan welcomed Mr. Brown for his visit to China and presence at the “2017 International Forum on Electric Vehicle Pilot Cities and Industrial Development” on the sideline of the Eighth Clean Energy Ministerial. Minister Wan said energy cooperation is a key part of science & technology cooperation between China and the U.S., and there are huge opportunities of cooperation between China and California in developing new energy vehicles and other clean energy technologies. He hoped the two sides can make good use of their respective advantages and carry out practical cooperation to push for development of clean energy technologies.
Governor Brown said California hopes to strengthen clean energy cooperation with the Chinese government to jointly advance clean energy technologies and tackle the challenges brought about by climate change.
