The 2nd Session of the China-Malta Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation was held in Malta on September 20, 2017. The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Director-General Zhu Xuehua of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of China and Executive Chairman Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando of the Malta Council for Science and Technology.
The two sides exchanged information on the science and technology (S&T) policies, programs and projects of their respective countries, reviewed progress in various fields since the First Session of the China-Malta Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation in 2015, and exchanged views on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Building Joint Research Center on Mariculture signed between them.
The two sides expressed satisfaction with the progress made in China-Malta S&T cooperation in the past two years and believed that they have established friendship and strengthened friendly ties through exchanges and visits. Both sides agreed to keep making good use of the mechanism of the Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology Cooperation, exchange science, technology and innovation (STI) policy and development information, coordinate the STI resources and apply them in bilateral cooperation. The two sides will push forward the establishment of the China-Malta Joint Research Center on Mariculture and further expand fields of win-win cooperation. Both sides also agreed to jointly support bilateral research projects when their funds permit. The two sides will also encourage universities and research institutions to carry out joint research and development, talent training and industry-university-research innovation cooperation.
