The 15th Session of the China-Italy Joint Committee on Intergovernmental Cooperation in Science and Technology was held in Beijing on November 13, 2017. The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Director-General Chen Linhao of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST), and Fabricio Niklati, Director of the Center for Bilateral and Multilateral Science and Technology Cooperation of the Department of National System Promotion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy.
The two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges of views on the current status of science and technology (S&T) development in the two countries and on the progress of the work since the last meeting of the joint committee, discussed specific measures to implement the China-Italy Action Plan for Strengthening Cooperation in Economy, Trade, Culture and Science and Technology (2017 -2020) and the China-Italy Strategic Plan for Cooperation in Science and Technology Innovation Towards 2020, decided to further improve the mechanism of co-sponsorship and started consultations on intergovernmental joint research projects for 2019-2021.
S&T Counsellor Cao Jianye of the Chinese Embassy in Italy, S&T Counsellor Lorenzo Gonzo of the Italian Consulate in Chongqing, and Executive Deputy Director Huang Ping of the China-Italy Technology Transfer Center attended the meeting.
