On November 13, 2017, under the common witness of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Xi Jinping and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People‘s Revolutionary Party Bounnhang Vorachith, the Agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic on Science and Technology Cooperation was signed in Vientiane. According to the Agreement, the two sides will set up a joint commission on science and technology cooperation to push forward various forms of cooperation in science and technology innovation between the science and technology communities of the two countries in the jointly agreed priority areas of cooperation, including sending scientists and researchers for exchanges and visits, carrying out joint research projects and organizing and participating in seminars and technical training, etc. Within the framework of China-ASEAN Science and Technology Partnership Programme, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Laos have cooperated in a close and fruitful manner in the China-Laos Joint Laboratory on Renewable Energy, the China-Laos Modern Agricultural Science Park, the China-Laos Technology Transfer Center and other pragmatic collaboration projects. The latest signing of Science and Technology Cooperation Agreement lays the foundation for the two countries to further plan and promote relevant cooperation.
