On August 31, 2018, Wang Binyi, Member of CPC Leading Group, MOST and Chief Inspector of CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection at MOST, led a delegation to Agence Nationale de la Recherche (“ANR”, French National Research Agency). The main purpose of the visit was to exchange ideas and practices on management of research projects, supervision of research funds, and promotion of research integrity.
Mr. Thierry Damerval, ANR Chairman and Managing Director, warmly welcomed Wang and his delegation. Wang briefed the French side on China‘s strategies and policies for science and innovation, reform of science, technology and technology programs, project management and research integrity building. Chairman Damerval introduced to the Chinese delegation ANR’s project funding, management mechanism and research integrity building. The two sides had in-depth discussions on research program management and prevention of research misconduct. The two sides believed that China and France are facing many similar problems and difficulties in relevant fields and that there is wide room for the two countries to have further exchanges. The Chinese delegation also included Chen Yue, Deputy Chief Inspector of CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection at MOST, Ye Dongbai, Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation and Zhou Guolin, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Personnel of MOST, and Sun Yuming, Minister Counselor of Science and Technology at the Chinese Embassy in France.
Founded in February 2005, ANR is a state-level research funding agency which selects and sponsors research projects with fiscal funds through peer review and competition. Its functions are to sponsor and promote the advancement of science, as well as to support technology innovation, technology transfer, public-private partnership and international cooperation in science.
