On October 11, 2018, Minister Wang Zhigang met with Ms.Ginni Rometty, Chairman of IBM.
Minister Wang Zhigang welcomed the delegation and recognized IBM as a great multinational corporation that has become the world’s largest international IT and business solution company through over 100 years’ efforts in innovation. And it has set up partnerships of win-win outcomes with many Chinese counterparts. He briefed the delegation on China’s relevant deployment and plans in science, technology and innovation since the 19th CPC National Congress and important achievements of China’s science and technology cooperation over the past 40 years since reform and opening up and emphasized the important role of STI in driving social and economic development and the great significance of national progress in science and technology for coping with global challenges. He said that China is committed to promoting STI development, strengthening exchange and cooperation, and opening wider to the rest of the world, and expressed the hope that IBM could seize the opportunity of China’s development to scale even greater heights.
Ginni Rometty said that IBM has established solid technology partnerships with many excellent Chinese enterprises over the past decades and has been committed to establishing positive China-U.S. relations and dialogue mechanisms. IBM expects to expand its presence in China and further strengthen cooperation with Chinese partners in various fields including cloud market, healthcare and IT to jointly advance technological innovation.
