At the invitations of Professor Schwab, Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (“WEF”), and Tianjin Municipal Government, Minister Wang Zhigang of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) attended the opening ceremony of the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2018 of the World Economic Forum (2018 Summer Davos Forum) held in Tianjin on September 19, 2018.
Before the opening ceremony of the Forum, Minister Wang Zhigang met with Professor Schwab. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on the Fourth Industrial Revolution, innovative society and strengthening the important role of science and technology in globalization and multilateral cooperation. Minister Wang Zhigang said that MOST has established good relationship with the WEF and is willing to strengthen multilateral cooperation in science, technology and innovation (STI) with WEF, boost interaction between small- and medium-sized tech enterprises and the WEF, and jointly promote the establishment of a Fourth Industrial Revolution Center or Sub-Center in China. Professor Schwab briefed Minister Wang Zhigang on this year’s Summer Davos Forum, echoed Minister Wang Zhigang‘s comments, and expressed his willingness to further collaboration with MOST.
During his trip to Tianjin, Minister Wang Zhigang had a meeting with South African Minister of Science and Technology Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, who was also there for the 2018 Summer Davos Forum.
Director General Ye Dongbai of the Department of International Cooperation and Director General Xu Jing of the Department of Innovation and Development of MOST, and President Hu Zhijian of the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development attended the above-mentioned events.
