On October 12, 2018, Xia Mingjiu, member of CPC Leading Group of the Ministry of Science and Technology, addressed the 7th China Harbin International Exhibition of Scientific and Technological Achievements. The exhibition consisted of a main forum and dialogues on topics relating to cold regions technology and industry innovation cooperation and was attended by nearly 600 representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, local governments, domestic research institutes and enterprises, and experts from CIS countries.
In his address to the event, Xia Mingjiu stated that over the 40 years since China’s reform and opening up, the Chinese government has attached great importance to science, technology and innovation and has been committed to innovation-driven development by continuously strengthening innovation capacity-building and open cooperation with partners from around the world in science and technology. After 12 years of development, China Harbin International Exhibition of Scientific and Technological Achievements has become an important platform of science, technology and innovation exchange and cooperation between China and European and other Asian, especially northeast Asian countries. With its unique open ecosystem and cultural atmosphere, the exhibition has advanced the connectivity and win-win development of countries along the Belt and Road.
The exhibition was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Heilongjiang Provincial People’s Government and Harbin Municipal People’s Government and co-organized by Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology and Harbin Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology. As an important component of Harbin’s internationalization strategy, the exhibition has become a major platform for transfer of high-end technologies from Russia and other CIS countries to China and cooperation between China and its different regions and Russia.
