To deepen China-Sweden cooperation in STI and to prepare for bilateral project cooperation between the two sides in key areas in 2019, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and the Innovation Agency of Sweden(“Vinnova”) jointly held the China-Sweden Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation Matchmaking Meeting in Beijing on November 5. More than 200 representatives from the industry, academia and research circles of the two countries participated in the meeting.
At the meeting, Lei Fengyun, Member of the Leadership Team of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Karin Rydén, Director of the Department of International Affairs of the Swedish Innovation Agency, delivered keynote speeches. Representatives from the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, China Science and Technology Exchange Center, Beijing Technology Exchange & Promotion Center and the Swedish Innovation Agency respectively introduced the specific situations of STI development, project process management and matchmaking arrangements between China and Sweden and between China and Europe (The European Union). After the meeting, participants matched specific projects in the three key fields of transport safety, health and applied information and communication technology, and conducted fruitful discussions on future project cooperation.
In 2017, the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Swedish Innovation Agency signed the Memorandum of Understanding on China-Sweden Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation, agreeing to launch a joint funding mechanism in key fields in the next three years. During its current visit to China, the Vinnova delegation will also go to Nanjing to attend the Special Sweden Session of the 6th China Jiangsu Conference for International Technology Transfer and Commercialization.
