On May 14th and 15th, the 2019 China-EU Research & Innovation Stakeholders Tour events were respectively held in Nanjing and Nanning, part of an awareness raising campaign supported by the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST), and jointly sponsored by China Science and Technology Exchange Center (CSTEC) and the EU Delegation to China.
The events highlighted opportunities in the research programs and policy instruments of China and the EU, its Member States and other European countries among Chinese universities, enterprises, research institutes and research management authority, and boosted understanding and participation of local researchers in these programs, an effort to improve Chinese researchers’ access to quality and high-level international science and technology cooperation and promote the alignment of China and EU’s research programs with local development strategies, so as to promote equal and mutually-beneficial research cooperation between China and the EU at a larger scale.

The events presented the rules and procedures on application for the Inter-governmental STI Cooperation Special Program under the National Key R&D Program of China and EU Horizon 2020. Diplomats from Germany, France, Italy, Latvia, Austria, Norway and Netherlands also updated on the research policies and bilateral science and technology cooperation with China. The events attracted participants from local university, business and research institutes as well as local science and technology authority in Jiangsu and Guangxi. Deputy Director General Zhuang Jia of CSTEC, Minister Counsellor Philippe Vialatte of Science and Technology from the EU Delegation to China, as well as representatives from the Department of International Cooperation of MOST and Jiangsu and Guangxi Science and Technology Department attended the tour events.
