On May 22, 2019, Minister Wang Zhigang met with visiting President & CEO Peter Wennink of ASML and his delegation. The two sides exchanged views on promoting cooperation in the fields of common interest.
Minister Wang Zhigang expressed his appreciation of ASML for its dynamic cooperation with China. He said that China has been committed to opening-up and will only open wider to the outside world. China has continuously improved relevant laws and policies to create a favorable market and business environment for Chinese and foreign enterprises. Minister Wang Zhigang remarked that China has established long-term and fruitful cooperative relations in the field of STI with the Netherlands and the EU as a whole. Businesses play an important role in the relations and need to strengthen ties for closer exchanges in education, talent, and science and technology. President Peter Wennink echoed Minister Wang Zhigang‘s views and briefed the Chinese side on ASML’s development in China and its R&D cooperation with Chinese partners and personnel training. The two sides agreed that in the future Chinese and Dutch high-tech enterprises can explore deeper cooperation in the fields of common interest, complement each other’s strengths, forge mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation, and contribute to science and technology progress.
Director-General Ye Dongbai of the Department of International Cooperation, Director-General Chen Chuanhong of the Department of Major Science and Technology Project and Director-General Qin Yong of the Department of High and New Technology of the Ministry of Science and Technology attended the meeting.
