Sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the People‘s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the China-ASEAN Technology Transfer and Collaborative Innovation was held in Nanning on July 9. Vic Minister Huang Wei addressed the conference, and over 150 representatives of national and local S&T authorities attended the meeting, including Vice Chairman Fei Zhirong of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Director General Cao Kunhua of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangxi, Deputy Director General Cui Tuo of the Department of Basic Research of MOST, and Associate Counselor Xu Jie of the Department of International Cooperation of MOST.
The meeting pointed out that ASEAN countries are priority and important partners of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. In recent years, there has been more active cooperation between China and ASEAN countries within the framework of the Action Plan for Belt and Road Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation and the China-ASEAN Science and Technology Partnership Program. Local governments can make full use of the China-ASEAN Technology Transfer Center and build it into a bridge for STI cooperation between China and ASEAN countries. At the same time, the Center needs to strengthen cooperation with various local authorities through effective mechanisms, in a bid to connect local technology transfer agencies, integrate national resources for technology transfer and innovation, and contribute more to the Belt and Road Initiative.
After the meeting, Vice Minister Huang visited Guangxi Medicinal Botanical Garden and Guangxi University.
