On September 5, 2019, Huang Wei, Chinese Vice Minister of Science and Technology, met with Mahmoud Sakr, President of the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) and his delegation, who attended the Third China-Arab States Technology Transfer and Innovation Cooperation Conference in Yinchuan. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral cooperation in science and technology.
Vice Minister Huang Wei pointed out that in recent years President Xi Jinping and President El-Sisi have jointly promoted the continuous development of China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership and that under the framework of the Belt and Road Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation Action Plan and the Science and Technology Partnership Program, the two sides have actively expanded practical cooperation, promoted joint research and technology transfer platforms and engaged in the Talented Young Scientist Program. Vice Minister Huang Wei hoped that the two sides could deliver on the agreement reached at the China-Egypt Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology Cooperation, make good use of the platform of the China-Egypt Technology Transfer Center, push bilateral cooperation to a new level and add positive connotations to the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership.
President Mahmoud Sakr thanked Vice Minister Huang Wei for supporting cooperation in science, technology and innovation (STI) between the two countries. He fully affirmed the achievements of bilateral cooperation in various fields, and hoped to further expand cooperation in areas like water-saving irrigation. President Mahmoud Sakr expressed willingness to make full use of China-Egypt Technology Transfer Center to deepen win-win cooperation in STI and generate benefits to the two peoples.
Shi Dai, Standing Member and Head of the Organization Department of the CPC Committee of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Wu Xiuzhang, Vice Governor of Ningxia, and Ruan Xiangping, Senior Counsel of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology were present at the meeting.
