On the morning of October 22, 2019, Miao Shaobo, Secretary General of the Ministry of Science and Technology, met with Deputy Director Riki Arai of Japan-China Skilled Worker Exchange Center (JCSWEC) and his delegation. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening exchanges and cooperation in the new era.
Secretary General Miao Shaobo looked back at more than 30 years of cooperation between the two sides and expressed his gratitude to JCSWEC for its long-term contribution to Japanese language education in China. He pointed out that Japanese education plays a fundamental role in China-Japan exchanges and that there is huge potential for cooperation between the two countries as bilateral cooperation deepens in various fields. Deputy Director Riki Arai expressed his thanks to the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs) for its support over 30 years. He briefed the Chinese host on the current progress of JCSWEC’s cooperation with China and ideas for further exchanges. Both sides agreed that China and Japan have a good tradition of learning from each other and they should further leverage their respective advantages, expand cooperation areas and make new and greater contribution to the people-to-people exchanges in science and technology between the two countries.
Deputy Director Riki Arai was accompanied by Director of JCSWEC’s Executive Director Affairs Bureau and other two officials. Deputy Director-Generals Nie Biao and Xu Haoqing of the Department of Foreign Experts Affairs and Deputy Director-General Xia Bing of China Center for International Exchange of Personnel were present at the meeting.
