On September 17, 2020, Vice Minister of Science and Technology Huang Wei attended and addressed the China-Russia Science, Technology and Innovation Forum held in Beijing, one of the events of the 2020 Zhongguancun Forum. Yin Yong, Standing Committee Member of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of Beijing Municipality, also attended the event. Former Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich and Russian Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Bocharova Natalia Aleksandrovna participated in the event via videolink.
Vice Minister Huang Wei pointed out that the China-Russia Science, Technology and Innovation Forum is an important event under the framework of the China-Russia Year of Science, Technology and Innovation and one of the important parallel forums of the 2020 Zhongguancun Forum. The event is held as scheduled against the backdrop that the COVID-19 is still raging around the world. It demonstrates the uniqueness of China-Russia relations developing at a high level in the new era, and the strong desire and urgent need of the Chinese and Russian science communities to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation.
Featuring the theme of“deepening China-Russia innovation cooperation and development”, the China-Russia Science, Technology and Innovation Forum was attended by representatives of science and technology (S&T) ministries and local governments from both countries, experts of think tanks, representatives of science parks and enterprises, S&T diplomats, and scientists engaging in China-Russia S&T cooperation. Chen Linhao, Deputy Director General of the International Cooperation Department of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, and Morogin Viacheslav, S&T Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in China, delivered keynote speeches on“deepening innovation cooperation between China and Russia”. Experts from both sides presented reports on“increasing strategic consensus and leading global innovation cooperation”, and had in-depth exchanges on“promoting practical cooperation and seizing the opportunities of the new industrial revolution”.
