The International Symposium on COVID-19 Research Innovation was held on July 10, 2020. Centering on the theme of “sharing best practices of scientific research and exploring win-win cooperation”, the event was dedicated to facilitating international scientific exchanges and cooperation to address the pandemic. Around 20 well-known experts from China, the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, Sweden and Cuba attended the symposium via video link.
Mr. Xia Bing, Director-General of China Association for International Exchange of Personnel, greeted the experts and pointed out that science has no border and cooperation knows no geographic distance. The Chinese science community are racing against time to seek scientific solutions to the pandemic and contribute Chinese wisdom based on engagement with researchers around the world. The power of science must be fully harnessed for overcoming the epidemic. He hoped the symposium could help facilitate information exchanges and research cooperation to combat the pandemic.
Centering on epidemiological study on COVID-19, progress in the drug development against COVID-19, and new vaccine quality control and testing techniques, experts shared their latest research results and experience, discussed issues of common interest, and agreed to further enhance COVID-19 research collaboration. They expressed their willingness to strengthen experience and knowledge sharing on COVID-19 research, harness science, technology and innovation to safeguard global health security, and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
