From June 16 to 17, 2021, the Sino-European Optoelectronics and Microwave Innovation Cooperation Matchmaking Meeting, co-sponsored by the Department of International Cooperation of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and Alpha-RLH Cluster and organized by Beijing Zhongguancun Overseas Science Park Co., Ltd., was successfully held.
Xu Guanhua, former Minister of the MOST, and Jean-Pierre Raffarin, former Prime Minister of France, attended and addressed the meeting. Jia Yiwei, Deputy General Manager of Zhongguancun Development Group, and Hervé Floch, CEO of Alpha-RLH Competitiveness Cluster, delivered welcome speeches. Some 50 representatives of Chinese provincial and municipal science and technology departments, high-tech zones, research institutes, universities and enterprises attended the meeting at the main venue in Beijing, and representatives of the research institutions and enterprises in the competitiveness clusters of France, Italy, Finland and other European countries attended the meeting online.
Xu Guanhua said in his speech that science, technology and innovation (STI) is a key area of Sino-European cooperation. During the 14th Five-Year period, the Chinese government will continue to adopt an open and inclusive international science and technology cooperation strategy for mutual benefit and result sharing, and drive high-quality innovation with open cooperation at a higher level. This event will build a platform for the communication of innovation policies and sharing of entrepreneurial experience between Chinese high-tech zones and European competitiveness clusters, and inject momentum of innovation into advanced manufacturing technologies and industries. It is hoped that China-EU cooperation in STI could offer solutions to common global challenges, and that the outcomes of innovation in science and technology could deliver greater benefits to all peoples, and contribute to the economic recovery and sustainable social development in the post-Covid world.
Prime Minister Raffarin said that under the current international situation, strengthening dialogue and communication between China and Europe, especially in the area of science and technology, is of great significance to enhancing mutual understanding, unlocking the potential of cooperation and jointly addressing global challenges, and hoped that this event would build a bridge of communication and cooperation for Chinese and European partners.
During the meeting, the Chinese and European participants fully exchanged their views on topics of optoelectronics and microwave through keynote speeches and project roadshows. Cooperation agreements were signed respectively between Beijing Zhongguancun Overseas Science Park Co., Ltd. and Alpha-RLH Competitiveness Cluster, and between Shanghai Jiao Tong University Tsung-Dao Lee Institute and AMPLITUDE under the witness of participants from both sides.
