On September 9, 2021, the 3rd ASEAN Plus Three (10+3) Young Scientists Forum, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the People‘s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was successfully held in Nanning, Guangxi.
Ruan Xiangping, Senior Counsel of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, delivered a speech at the forum. He said that young scientists, with great potential for creation, are an important driving force for science and technology development. China attaches high importance to promoting exchanges and cooperation among young scientists in the region, and will continue to implement people-to-people exchange programs in the field of science and technology to support young scientists from ASEAN countries, Japan and the ROK to take part in exchange activities at multiple levels and in multiple dimensions in China, so as to promote mutual understanding and mutual learning among young scientists from different countries, inspire scientific research, and create more and better results of research cooperation.
With the theme of “Gathering Youth Power for Sustainable Development”, the forum for the first time set up sub-venues in Japan, the ROK and Thailand. Young scientists in the fields of science, technology and innovation from China, Japan, the ROK and ten ASEAN countries joined online or offline discussions to share their experiences. Li Xin, Deputy Director General of the Department of Foreign Expert Services of the Ministry of Science and Technology, attended the forum as a panelist and delivered a keynote speech.
