On November 11, 2021, the 9th session of the China-Hungary Science and Technology Cooperation Committee was held by video link in Beijing and Budapest. The meeting was co-chaired by Shao Xinyu, Vice Minister of Science and Technology of China, and István Szabó, Vice President of the Hungarian National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NRDI Office).
The two sides exchanged information on R&D and innovation policies, reported the implementation progress of people-to-people exchange and joint research projects approved during the 8th session, reviewed the funding plan for bilateral science and technology cooperation projects in 2021-2023, discussed future cooperation between the two sides, and agreed on the date and location for the 10th session of the committee.
Vice Minister Shao Xinyu said that science and technology cooperation is an important part of China-Hungary practical cooperation. In recent years, bilateral STI cooperation has entered a phase of healthy and stable growth, with expanded areas and new forms of cooperation. Going forward, China will continue to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Hungary, push for breakthroughs in joint scientific research, jointly build research institutions, and promote the two-way flow of scientific and technological talents.
Vice President Szabó said that Hungary and China enjoy traditional friendship, and cooperation with China is of vital importance to Hungary. At present, Hungary-China cooperation in science, technology and innovation is going into greater depth, and the future of bilateral cooperation holds broad prospect.
After the meeting, the two sides signed the Protocol of the Ninth Session of the Science and Technology Cooperation Committee between the People‘s Republic of China and Hungary.
Chinese Ambassador to Hungary Qi Dayu attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
