On December 16, 2021, the first Expert Seminar on China-EU Climate Change and Biodiversity Research Flagship was successfully held in a hybrid online and offline format.

 

Deputy Director-General Zhao Jing and Senior Counsel Yin Jun of the Department of International Cooperation of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, Deputy Director-General of the Administrative Center for China’s Agenda 21 Chen Qizhen, Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Mission to the EU Gao Changlin, and Director of International Cooperation of the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation of the EU Maria Cristina Russo attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

 

During the seminar, experts from the two sides gave thematic presentations and had a lively discussion on topics related to climate change and biodiversity.

 

The seminar reaffirmed positive will of the two sides to carry out research and innovation cooperation in the field of climate change and biodiversity, and demonstrated strong foundation and common vision of China and the EU in climate change cooperation.

 

More than 70 people, including academicians, researchers and experts in the field of climate change and biodiversity from Chinese and European universities and research institutes, as well as government officials for relevant policies, attended the seminar.
