On September 6, 2022, Zhang Guangjun, Vice Minister of Science and Technology of China, and Christos Dimas, Vice Minister of Development and Investments of Greece, presided over the 13th meeting of China-Greece Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Greece via video link.
Vice Minister Zhang Guangjun pointed out that 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Greece, and thus the meeting of China-Greece Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation carries special significance. Greece is an important partner for China in Science,Technology and Innovation cooperation. Research institutions from China and Greece have built a sound partnership for years through people-to-people exchanges. Looking forward, both sides should join hands, learn from each other, and deepen the ongoing partnership, making joint contributions to the benefits and development of the entire human society.
Vice Minister Christos Dimas said sci-tech cooperation is a cornerstone of bilateral relations. As equal and reciprocal partners, Greece and China have conducted joint scientific explorations, shared research achievements, overcome common challenges and produced significant outcomes. The academic and business sectors from both sides should continue to explore complementary cooperation and advance bilateral relations.
Other attendees of the meeting included Xiao Junzheng, Chinese Ambassador to Greece; Dai Gang, Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology; Xu Jie, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology; Gao Xiang, Director-General of China Science and Technology Exchange Center; and Prof. Athanasios Kyriazis, Secretary General of Greek General Secretariat of Research and Innovation (GSRI). Representatives from the Palace Museum, Sun Yat-sen University, Jiangnan University and related Greek institutions made introductions about the progress of their collaborative projects.
After the meeting, Vice Minister Zhang Guangjun and Vice Minister Christos Dimas signed the cooperative document.
