On the afternoon of April 6, 2023 and under the joint witness of Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron, Chinese Minister of Science and Technology Wang Zhigang and French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine COLONNA signed a statement of intent on establishing China-France Carbon Neutrality Center between the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, and an administrative agreement on establishing China-France Scientific Partner Program between the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic. Both countries hope that through the aforesaid cooperation mechanisms, Chinese and French research institutions will focus on long-term exchanges and cooperation in the field of carbon neutrality, and support exchanges and mutual visits of research teams, and make new contributions to addressing climate change and other global challenges.
