In order to implement the consensus reached by the heads of state of China and France during their meeting on April 6, as well as the Joint Statement between the People’s Republic of China and the French Republic released on April 7, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and the French Embassy in China jointly held a seminar on the France-China Young Talents Program(JTFC) on April 11. The seminar was held in a hybrid format with the main venue in Beijing. Xu Jie, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, Guo Xiaolin, Minister Counselor for Science and Technology at the Chinese Embassy in France, Mathieu Perrot, Deputy Director-General of Higher Education and Research at the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mael Le Bail, Head of European and International Affairs at the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, and Nicolas Pillerel, Minister Counselor for Cultural, Educational and Scientific Affairs and Director of the French Cultural Center in Beijing attended the seminar and made speeches.
On the sideline of the seminar, a ceremony was held to mark the relaunch of JTFC. Xu Jie and Nicolas Pillerel unveiled the program in the presence of participants from both sides, and announced the simultaneous solicitation for applications in 2024.
During the seminar, previous participants of JTFC, and representatives from sending and host institutions, shared their experiences and achievements in implementing JTFC, and their thoughts and suggestions on enhancing academic and cultural exchanges between China and France.
Around 100 representatives attended the seminar, including Chen Baoming, Deputy Director-General of Center for Science and Technology Personnel Exchange and Development Service, Marc Daumas, the Higher Education, Research and Innovation Counselor at the French Embassy in China, Romain Jacquet, Counselor of Health at the French Embassy in China, as well as representatives from technology and foreign affairs departments, embassies, provincial science & technology departments in China, research institutes and universities.
