On May 25, 2023, Vice Minister Zhang Yudong met in Beijing with a visiting delegation led by Springer Nature Group CEO Frank Vrancken Peeters. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on such topics as academic journal development, research integrity and open access.
Zhang Yudong said that Springer Nature Group is one of the world’s largest publishers of academic journals, and an important partner of the Chinese science community. It has played a positive role in publishing Chinese researchers’ cutting-edge research, China’s progress in basic research, supporting China’s efforts to create world-class academic journals, and expediting collaboration and exchanges in basic research between China and the rest of the world. He hoped that Springer Nature Group can share more experience, cover China’s developments and achievements in scientific research and provide better services to Chinese researchers, adding that China will work more closely with Springer Nature Group to create a conducive environment for responsible research and publishing across the world.
Frank Vrancken Peeters introduced the global operations of Springer Nature Group, as well as its collaboration with Chinese universities and research institutions in publishing academic journals. He also highlighted the measures taken by Springer Nature Group to promote open access and research integrity. He affirmed commitment to expanding cooperation with the Chinese science community and increasing coverage of China’s major science and technology policies and basic research progress in its flagship journal Nature.
