On April 24, 2023, the 5th meeting of the China-Mongolia Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation was held in Beijing. Dai Gang, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, and Mr. Battogtokh Dorjgotov, Director of Science, Technology Policy Innovation Development and Coordination of Policy Implementation Department of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science of Mongolia, co-chaired the meeting.
Dai Gang pointed out that during the visit of Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh to China in November 2022, President Xi Jinping held talks with him and they reached a series of important consensuses, including strengthening S&T cooperation. This meeting of the Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation is a concrete measure to implement outcomes of the talks between the two leaders. It is hoped that S&T communities of both countries will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, produce more mutually beneficial results, and promote steady development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Mongolia.
De. Battogtokh expressed his great pleasure to visit China for the joint committee’s meeting. Over the years, Mongolia and China have achieved fruitful results through S&T cooperation and have developed a deep friendship. Mongolia is currently implementing the “New Revival Policy” through 2030 and will place greater emphasis on the role of science and technology in economic and social development. Mongolia would like to strengthen cooperation with China and generate more practical outcomes.
Representatives from both sides reviewed the achievements in areas of cooperation since the last meeting of the joint committee, including scientific and cultural exchanges, joint research projects, establishment of joint laboratories, technology transfer, and S&T park development. They reached multiple consensuses on the future direction of cooperation.
