On June 13, 2023, Minister of Science and Technology Wang Zhigang met with the outgoing Cuban Ambassador to China, Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernández.
Minister Wang Zhigang said that China and Cuba are good friends, comrades and brothers, and expressed thanks to Ambassador Pereira for his active role in fostering China-Cuba cooperation in science and technology during his term. Through joint research and development and researcher mobility, research institutions, industry and academia of both nations have consistently strengthened cooperation, leading to significant accomplishments for the benefit of the two peoples. Minister Wang said China will work hand-in-hand with Cuba to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders, and maintain momentum in scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation.
Ambassador Pereira, reflecting fondly on his participation in various China-Cuba scientific and technological events, pledged his continued support to the science, technology, and innovation cooperation between the two nations. He vowed to further contribute to the enhancement of Cuba-China relations, advancing economic and social development for the well-being of the two peoples.
Attendees from the Ministry of Science and Technology include Dai Gang, Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation, and Deputy Director-General Xu Jie. Minister Counsellor Igor Montero Brito and Science and Technology Counsellor Henry Ricardo Mora from the Cuban Embassy in China were also present.
