On July 17, 2023, the inauguration ceremony of the China-Australia Joint Research Center for Biofuels and Biorefining, led by the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conservation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Queensland University of Technology, was held through a video link between Guangzhou and Brisbane. The center is supported by the fourth round of the China-Australia Science and Research Fund, which is jointly funded by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and the Department of Industry, Science, and Resources of Australia. It is a practical initiative for China and Australia to collaborate on joint research and technology innovation in the field of renewable energy, promote green development, and address the challenges of global climate change.
Before the inauguration ceremony, Ambassador Graham Fletcher and Deputy Director-General Xu Jie visited the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conservation and held discussions there.
