On August 30, 2023, Vice Minister Zhang Guangjun met in Beijing with Ms. Maja Stefanović, Serbian Ambassador to China. They held intensive discussions on deepening bilateral cooperation on science and technology.
Zhang Guangjun said that China and Serbia are “ironclad friends”, and bilateral sci-tech cooperation has progressed smoothly with achievements made in such areas as epidemic prevention and control, artificial intelligence, space technology, biotechnology, and sci-tech parks. He suggested both sides leverage the mechanism of China-Serbia Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation, carry out top-level planning for bilateral sci-tech cooperation, expand exchanges of research personnel, increase joint research and development efforts, and deepen collaboration within multilateral frameworks like“China-Central and Eastern European Countries Cooperation”.
Stefanović expressed full agreement with the proposal. She emphasized that Serbia values its traditional friendship with China and appreciates Chinese assistance to Serbia in science and technology. She hoped to strengthen sci-tech cooperation in key areas, and contribute to bilateral ties and the well-being of the two peoples.
Dai Gang, Director-General and Sun Jian, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Jelena Nikolić, Minister Counselor at the Embassy of Serbia in China, were present during the meeting.
