The 4th Forum on China-South Asia Technology Transfer and Collaborative Innovation, co-organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Yunnan Provincial Government, was held in Kunming, Yunnan on August 16, 2023. Zhang Guangjun, Vice Minister of Science and Technology, attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech, while Zhang Zhili, Vice Governor of Yunnan Province, also attended and addressed the forum.
In his speech, Zhang Guangjun stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping describe China and South Asian countries as friendly neighbors and development partners, and a community with a shared future and common stake. China‘s sci-tech cooperation with South Asia is growing closer, and practical cooperation achievements continue to emerge in areas such as sci-tech people-to-people exchanges, joint research, and technology transfer. China wishes to deepen regional cooperation and ensure that the outcomes of sci-tech cooperation benefit the people of the region. The Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology will continue to support Yunnan in becoming a center that serves South and Southeast Asia and bolster the high-quality development of the China-South Asia Technology Transfer Center.
The 4th Forum on China-South Asia Technology Transfer and Collaborative Innovation, themed on “Innovation for the Future, Cooperation for Common Development”, brings together delegations from South Asian nations. Nepal’s Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Ashok Kumar Rai, Sri Lanka‘s State Minister of Technology, Kanaka Herath, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque, attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered speeches.
The launch ceremony of the China InnoTour for Young Scientists from South and Southeast Asian Countries, and the 3rd China-Pakistan Technology Transfer Matchmaking Workshop were held on the sidelines of the forum.
