Vice Minister Zhang Yudong met with newly-appointed Ambassador of Cuba to China Alberto Blanco Silva and President of Cuban Academy of Sciences Dr. Luis Velázquez Pérez on September 6, 2023.
Vice Minister Zhang Yudong congratulated Ambassador Alberto Blanco Silva for serving as Cuban Ambassador to China for the second time, and welcomed Dr. Luis Velázquez Pérez‘s visit to the Ministry. He stated that the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment have maintained friendly exchanges for a long time, and the cooperation between the two countries in industry, academia, and research are getting increasingly active. The two sides have conducted joint research in multiple priority fields, contributing to the scientific and technological development of the two countries. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China would like to work with Cuba to strengthen scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation and build a community with a shared future.
Ambassador Alberto Blanco Silva and President Luis Velázquez Pérez said that Cuba and China have profound friendship, Cuba values scientific and technological cooperation with China, and supports the Belt and Road STI cooperation. Both sides have conducted productive cooperation in areas of common interest, benefiting the people of both countries. Cuba is willing to deepening cooperation with China.
Dai Gang, Director-General of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Henry Ricardo Mora, Counselor of Science and Technology of the Cuban Embassy in China attended the meeting.
