On September 9, 2023, Minister Wang Zhigang met with Celso Pansera, President of Brazilian Innovation Research Agency (FINEP) and the Head of the Brazilian Delegation at Pujiang Innovation Forum.
Minister Wang Zhigang welcomed Brazil as the Country of Honor of the 2023 Pujiang Innovation Forum and thanked President Celso Pansera for leading the delegation to visit Shanghai and attending the forum. Since the signing of the Intergovernmental Science and Technology Cooperation Agreement between China and Brazil in 1982, the two sides have conducted extensive cooperation in joint research, building cooperation platforms, and exchange of scientific and technological personnel. China is willing to work with Brazil to implement the consensus of the two Heads of State, deepen scientific and technological cooperation in key areas, and promote high-quality development.
President Celso Pansera thanked the Chinese side for inviting Brazil to be the Country of Honor of the 2023 Pujiang Innovation Forum. He said that President Lula‘s congratulatory letter showcases Brazil’s commitment to scientific and technological cooperation with China. He appreciated the fruitful achievements of Brazil-China scientific and technological cooperation, and was willing to work with the Chinese side to achieve new progress and jointly address global common challenges and improve people’s well-being.
Present at the meeting were officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology including He Defang, Deputy Secretary-General, Pan Xiaodong, Director-General of the General Office, Xie Min, Director-General of the Department of Policies, Regulations and Innovation System, Dai Gang, Director-General and Xu Jie, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation, and officials from Shanghai Municipal People‘s Government including Shang Yuying, Deputy Secretary General and Luo Dajin, Director-General of the Science and Technology Commission, and Augusto, Brazilian Consul General in Shanghai.
The first China-Brazil Nanotechnology Seminar was co-sponsored by the two sides as a side event of the Pujiang Forum, which served as a platform for enhancing cooperation in nanotechnology.
